Cross & Crown

Cross & Crown - Abigail Roux I guess you could call me a fangirl (does that term apply to authors/books?) when it comes to Abigail Roux and the Cut & Run series or anything related to the series. Cross & Crown had its faults. Why does it still get 4 stars then? Just because.

Let's get the faults out of the way then, shall we?

First and foremost, there was too much focus on history, too many details I didn't care about and to be honest, I even got utterly confused at one point. And second, Nick & Kelly's sex scenes were seriously lacking, as in there was SO MUCH cock-blocking going on that it frustrated me to no end. What's the equivalent of blue balls for women? 'Cause I had a bad case of it! That's all, I have nothing else to complain about.

Now, moving on to what I LOVED about this book...

Nick & Kelly are slowly moving forward in their relationship. Since the focus is mainly on the mystery, we only get glimpses into their life as a couple. They live in different cities, have opposite preferences for places where they want to live and work different jobs. Naturally, that's hard to deal with and Nick & Kelly have to find common ground. Their relationship is still new, but their connection grows stronger. I melted with every 'I love you', every tender gesture - a pat on the thigh, a squeeze of the knee etc. Also, the fucking camera made an appearance! Enough said.
Oh, one more thing... Kelly kicked ass! He's so badass when he gets all worked up about something. What upset me, though, was seeing Nick & Ty's friendship crumble. After everything they've been through, I really hope they fix it soon!

As for the secondary characters, Julian fucking Cross (Warrior's Cross (Cut & Run, #1) - my review
Sticks & Stones (Cut & Run, #3) - my review
Divide & Conquer (Cut & Run, #5) - my review
Dine & Dash (Cut & Run, #6) - my review
Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run, #8) - my review
Crash & Burn - my review
Shock & Awe (Sidewinder, #2) - you're reading it
